Kobo Research Permits and Applications
Kobo has two research permits totalling 449.35 km2 and three pending applications totalling 1,068 km2 in Côte d’Ivoire, a country with significant exploration potential when compared to its West African neighbours. Kobo’s permits are all underlain by Birimian Formation rocks which host the majority of the te gold mines in West Africa.
Our flagship property is the Kossou Permit (“Kossou”) and is located immediately adjacent to the Yaouré mine operated by Perseus Mining. The Kossou permit covers approximately 147 km2 and gold targets are hosted within the same geological and structural environment as at Yaouré. Work by Kobo has indicated similar alteration styles as seen at Yaouré and has discovered significant gold mineralisation in outcrop and significant gold geochemical anomalies on the permit that are drill ready.
Kobo also has one research permit in the Bongouanou area, the Bongouanou Permit, located about 1.5-hour drive east of Yamoussoukro. The Bongouanou Permit covers approximately 302 km2 and is underlain by Birimian host rocks. In addition, the Company also has three pending research permits (Bocanda North – 341 km2, Bocanda South – 338 km2 and M’Batto – 389 km2) totaling 1,068 km2. All applications are underlain by Birimian host units and there are significant artisanal gold mining activities in the area.
